Beef Bone Broth

Ingredients
  • ½ cup onion (Quartered)
  • 2 each celery rib (broken)
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 bay leaf, whole
  • 2 pounds beef bones (I use a mixture of Femur and Oxtails)
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 cup brewed coffee
  • 1 tablespoon black peppercorns
  • 2 teaspoons himalayan pink salt
  • 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
Instructions
Roasting the bones & aromatics:
  1. Place bones, onion and celery on a lined baking sheet. Toss with garlic and bay leaf. Roast for 15-20 minutes in a 425 degree oven.
Instant Pot Instructions:
  1. Place Roasted bones and aromatics into the liner of your Instant Pot. Add water, coffee,apple cider vinegar, peppercorns and salt/
  2. Close your lid and lock into place. Set valve to sealing. Press the broth button and adjust the time to 120 minutes.
  3. (You can also use the pressure cook button (manual) on high pressure)
  4. Allow pot to Process. Natural pressure release the broth. Remove your liner and strain bones and aromatics from the finished broth.
  5. ( you can use the broth at this point for S meals if following Trim Healthy Mama)
  6. Refrigerate broth until it gels and the fat solidifies on top. Skim the fat from the top.
  7. Warm the beef bone broth and pour over 2-3 cups of ice to remove any remaining fat.
  8. (this broth is now suitable for use in any meal type if following Trim Healthy Mama)
Crockpot Instructions:
  1. Place roasted bones and aromatics into crockpot liner. Add remaining ingredients. Cover and set to low and allow to cook for 24 hours.
  2. Strain bones and aromatics from the finished broth.
  3. ( you can use the broth at this point for S meals if following Trim Healthy Mama)
  4. Refrigerate broth until it gels and the fat solidifies on top. Skim the fat from the top.
  5. Warm the beef bone broth and pour over 2-3 cups of ice to remove any remaining fat.
  6. (this broth is now suitable for use in any meal type if following Trim Healthy Mama)
