Homemade Sriracha Salt was the topic of conversation last New Years Day when we went to visit some of our kids. Of course I had to come home and make some to try it out.
I did go check at the grocery store for it, and wow was it expensive, considering I had everything at home to make my own homemade version.

How to Use Homemade Sriracha Salt
This salt is great as a “finishing salt” which means to season already cooked food. It becomes a personal choice as to how much or how little someone uses. It has a subtle flavor so won’t be “too hot” for most people. Personally, I love this sriracha salt added to things like baked fish, baked chicken, burgers, green fries and so many other dishes I just can’t list them all.
You can use this sriracha salt in BBQ rubs and sauces it really adds a nice depth with the other spices and ingredients used to make them.
I’ve also packaged this and given it as gifts to our family and friends. It is a quick and easy homemade gift that everyone enjoys.
Why High Mineral Salt
When looking at recipes for making sriracha salt, almost all of them called for kosher salt. Kosher Salt is a bit coarser grind and has a more subtle flavor than regular table salt. I’ve been following Trim Healthy Mama for almost 3 years and one of the first things I changed was the salt we were using.
THM High Mineral Salt aka Himalayan Pink Salt
Celtic salt from the original THM book was hard to find here. Everyone had Himalayan salt which contains trace minerals that aren’t found in kosher or table salt, so we switched to that. Luckily, THM did come out with their own high mineral salt which I use often.
