I have found that using instant pot recipes in my trim healthy mama journey saves me time and dishes in the kitchen.


My Duo60 6qt Instant Pot has a special place on my counter. She has become my go to kitchen appliance for so many things. My husband is impressed with how this investment has saved us money in the grocery budget, gets dinner on the table quickly and he LOVES how hard-cooked eggs peel.

For the large family recipes from the Trim Healthy Table Cookbook, I would personally recommend using an 8 Quart Instant Pot or other Electric Pressure Cooker.

Main Dishes & One Pot Instant Pot Recipes

Here’s a bunch of main dish recipes that can be made in your instant pot. Most of these recipes will fit nicely in a 6 quart Instant Pot but some may need to be made in an 8 quart Instant Pot due to volume. 

For safety reasons you do not want to fill you electric pressure cooker more than 2/3rds full so that the pot will come to pressure. 

Special Note — When preparing foods that expand or foam such as Brown Rice and Beans NEVER fill your pot more than 1/2 full. This allows the food to expand without fear of a cooking failure.
