These seasoned jicama fries are a wonderful replacement for store bought frozen fries. They are healthy and have just the right amount of crunch to satisfy that craving for the not so healthy version.

I have been loving on my air fryer recently. My husband loves fries and pizza, he thinks they are their own food groups, silly guy!
We have a Nuwave Brio 3qt Air Fryer like this one.
Air Fryers & THM
One thing that many mama’s are finding is that having an air fryer really helps for those “drive thru Sue” moments. Being able to quickly make an on plan snack, meal or dessert without using a microwave is pretty handy.
I have been able to make cookies, appetizers, roasted vegetables and meats with great success. So I invite you to join me in my Trim Healthy Mama journey that includes wonderful air fryer recipes that are on plan and tasty too.
Air Fryer Sizes
One of the main struggles I have seen is the ability to make large batches of foods in your air fryer. So let’s visit a bit about the different sizes and how they measure up for the number of servings they cook.
Our three quart air fryer is a perfect size for two to three servings.
A six quart air fryer like this one from Nuwave would be great for a family of four or five.
This ten quart air fryer is awesome for a family of six to eight. (Rick’s Aunt has this one and really likes it)
The reviews on many of the Air fryer ovens are mixed however the one that stands out the most is this Cuisine Art Toaster Oven/ Air Fryer for batches that feed a crowd.
About Jicama
Jicama is a versatile vegetable, it is low in carbs and can be eaten raw or cooked. It is very crunchy and doesn’t really lose it’s crunch even after cooking so these seasoned jicama fries will still have a bit of a veggie bite, but the seasonings and such help to flavor them in a way that they pair well with chicken strips, burgers and more.
If you cannot find jicama at your local grocer you can substitute turnips in this recipe.
Why I Use Avocado Oil
Avocado oil is a healthy fat to cook with at higher temperatures. It has a higher smoke point than coconut or olive oil which means that it does not turn into a transfat when using it in your air fryer.

I tried to make fries with the oven, but it takes much oil. The air fryer is for me the best option, it tastes good and is much healthier.

New to my air fryer and jicama…I am using a Instant Pot with Air Fryer lid…not sure if I can remove the lid while cooking to shake them around. Are you familiar with that fryer? Thank you!

I have a mealthy Crisplid that allows me to shake or stir things as they cook, but I don’t think the IP lid has that feature. you could air fry for 1/2 the time, open the lid and stir, then replace the lid and finish crisping them.

I have and air fryer instant pot duo. You can remove the air fryer lid easily it’ll beep at you but it will hold the temp and count while you stir quickly. Just pop the kid back on and it’ll restart. Obviously you cannot do that with the pressure cooker lid though!
