I’ve been wanting to share this Chili Chili Bang Bang recipe for a while now. It is our favorite chili recipe and has been a staple meal in our home since my boys were young.
One of my favorite movies of all time is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang I can watch it over and over again. It was one of those movies that got worn out in our VCR .(They didn’t have DVD’s or Blu Ray’s when my boys were young).
I remember looking forward to the yearly showing on regular TV when I was young (yep I am that old, lol). It was a big deal in our house and we sat as a family and watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang , The Wizard of Oz and many others. Those are some of my fondest memories of growing up.
Do you have a favorite tradition in your family or Movies that you like to watch together?
So when you make this Chili Chili Bang Bang you are sharing memories from our family to yours, I hope you enjoy them.
Chili Chili Bang Bang is an energizing no special ingredients recipe for those following Trim Healthy Mama. It is budget friendly and comes together quickly in your crockpot or even in your Instant Pot meaning you have more time to make those special memories.
This is the crockpot that I’ve had for a few years that is collecting dust since the purchase of my Instant Pot.
I love my instant Pot it has been a blessing in so many ways
I can make “on plan” yogurt in it
It cooks chicken to last me all week in about 35 minutes
It saves me time making many of our family favorite meals
If you haven’t checked into them you really should because it was a total game changer for me in the food prep arena of Trim Healthy Mama.
This is the Instant Pot IP- Duo60 which is the one that I have but they also make an 8 quart which would be great for larger families.
Back to the Chili Chili Bang Bang
This is a meatless chili which makes it super budget friendly, but if you want you could add a bit of ultra lean ground turkey or even some shredded chicken to this to bump up the protein in it. It is packed full of veggies to help fill you up and most of them are non starchies which means they don’t spike your blood sugar.
If you add 1 pound of Shredded Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts to this recipe it bumps the protein up to about 24 grams per serving which is perfect for an Energizing meal.
I love topping my chili with a dollop of 0% Greek yogurt and a light sprinkle of cheese to give me that little bit of fat that is needed for mineral absorption.

I wonder if you think this is a freezable chili? It seems like it might not be, would appreciate your opinion or experience.
Judy says
I have not frozen this due to the high veggie content, I think it would become mush one reheated.
alilduckling says
Thanks, that was what I was thinking as well.
Alissa says
What about cutting up the veggies and freezing, then putting in Crock-Pot later?
Judy says
You could try it that way, I never have.
M says
This freezes beautifully as is..
