These do it yourself Chocolate Protein Bars have won my husband over. He absolutely loves to take these to work. I enjoy them when I know I am going to be out and about and can keep them in the car without fear of them going bad.
They are slightly chewy and taste a lot like a brownie bar without all the sugar and added fillers.

I love how super easy these chocolate protein bars are to make. They only take about 5 minutes to mix up and form into bars quickly.
This recipe makes about five or six bars and I will have some other flavor combinations coming to the blog soon.
I really like being able to press the dough into silicone bar molds like these because it makes them uniform in shape and size for easy storage and portion control.
Chocolate Protein Bars For Your Trim Healthy Journey
So many of us struggle with snacks that are portable and easy to make when we are traveling, These do it yourself chocolate protein bars fit within the guidelines for the Trim Healthy Mama Plan.
Are They Fuel Pull or S?
By the “numbers” these chocolate protein bars can fit into a Fuel Pull, however because of the natural peanut butter I personally consider them an S.
If you want to add a bit more healthy fats, you can add some chopped peanuts, sugar free chocolate chips or even up to 1 tablespoon of MCT oil without affecting the texture.

I hate to be that person asking for substitutions, but I don’t have ave any chocolate protein powder, just unflavored whey powder. Suggestions?
Judy says
you can use unflavored protein powder — just increase the cocoa powder by 2 teaspoons and the sweetener by the same amount 🙂
Glenda says
Good to know how to make that substitution!
Joyce Bjork says
How would these turn out with just oat flour? I do not have oat fiber? Thanks!
Judy says
oat flour is different than oat fiber nutritionally. But if you need to use oat flour you may need more water for these to come together correctly. I have not tried it this way so please let me know how they turn out for you.
Anne says
I just made this with Isagenix chocolate protein and it’s soupy. I’ll try again with less water. I also subbed the natural pb with pbfit reconstituted with water- so that is probably part of my problem. I poured it into a silicone pan- it tastes good! I’ll do less subbing next time!
Judy says
Hi Anne 🙂 Yeah, I think the pb fit with water is part of the issue. Sorry it didn’t turn out for you! I normally add the water 2TBS at a time and gauge the consistency of the dough after I mix it in.
Sharon says
Great flavor! Chocolaty, brownie, like flavor! So good! I like small bites of things so I turned them into 26 little circles, I have a silicone mold that makes 1 1/2 inch circles. I would have had 30 but I kept tasting it! I’m going to throw them into the freezer and take out a couple for a snack after the gym! Thanks so much! Hugs!
Kathy says
Can you please say why you specify the Gentle Sweet WITHOUT XYLITOL?
Judy says
I normally do not use anything with xylitol. there are molecular differences with the non xylitol and xylitol based gentle sweet. They react differently when baking with them so I label which one I am using.
Michele ºÜº says
Do any changes need to be made if I use regular Gentle Sweet (one that includes xylitol)?
Judy says
no 🙂
Sharon says
I really like these! First time I had to eat with a spoon, but second time I only used 4 T water and they were just right. Yum!
Antoniette Mora says
These sound great! I have all of the ingredients minus the collagen. Do you think the recipe would work if I just left it out? Or should I add more of another ingredient?.
Thank you!
Judy says
it will work without the collagen, but the protein will not be as high 🙂
Jessica says
I cannot have oat fiber and was wondering if there’s something I could use to substitute that, because these look delicious!
Judy says
you could replace the oat fiber with psyillium husk
April says
Would it be an equal amount of the Psyllium husk?
Judy says
yes 🙂
Jenny says
This is the most delicious protein bar I have ever tasted!
I used plain pristine whey protein and added 2 extra tsp of cocoa and sweetener as recommended. Valrhona cocoa is the best! I used Lakanto monkfruit sweetener instead of gentle sweet, and dissolved as much as possible into 5 T of water.
They are really, really good and a small portion is satisfying. My family loves them, thank you!
Judy says
Jenny, I am so glad that you all enjoy them as much as we do!!! Thanks for the tips on using Monk Fruit with them!
