This year we are adding this Cranberry Christmas Cabbage to our Holiday table. It is slightly sweet and spiced just right to make it a perfectly slimming side dish.

Every year we try a new recipe. Rick and I celebrate with our kids at different times for holidays because let’s face it everyone is super busy and feels that they need to have everyone gathered together. For our kids that is just plain hard!!
Why Our Holidays Are The Way They Are
We are a “blended family” which means 2 to 4 sets of families that want to celebrate together on the same day and sometimes at the same time. And sometimes in different states (6 adult kids, 10+ grands, 5 different states). Yes, it is that crazy.
So instead of placing pressure on our adult kids to be with us “on the holiday” we schedule our time together before or after and sometimes it is a phone or video call (thank you the internet). This allows us to enjoy our time together without worrying about offending anyone else. And gives each of our children less stress and the ability to gift their time to others.
Giving someone the gift of time as well as peace during this season is so very precious.
Why I Picked This Recipe
I picked this cranberry Christmas cabbage recipe because it goes with dinner for the day and leftovers in the days to come.
We also love cabbage and cranberries which is a plus. Adding a touch of balsamic vinegar and some of my Low Carb Brown Sugar adds sweetness to this recipe.
How This Recipe Fits The Trim Healthy Mama Plan
This recipe comes in as a Fuel Pull if following the Trim Healthy Mama Plan like I do. Remember that you do not count the carbs in your non starchy vegetables (cabbage).
Cranberry Christmas Cabbage is low in fat at 2g per serving and it still tastes great.
Using A Lower Carb Brown Sugar Replacement
We all have our favorite tools in the kitchen. This Low Carb Brown Sugar is one of mine. It still has trace amounts of natural sugar from the molasses but the calorie count is so much better than traditional brown sugar.
You could also use Swerve Brown Sugar or your favorite way to replace brown sugar.

Ok, I’m going to have to try this! I love cabbage, and cranberries, so I’m jumping in! I don’t generally like sweet food with my meal, but it has me intrigued. I’ll come back and let you know our results! Thanks!

This didn’t come out overly sweet to us. I hope you like it 🙂

I loved this as a side dish at Christmas! It was beautiful and tasty. I actually prefer it cold, like a relish, which brought it the sweetness and disguised the vinegar. Thank you for this yummy recipe!
