My husband adores this man pleasing meatloaf. This is one of my go to air fryer recipes while following the trim healthy mama plan. Even my grandchildren love when I make this for dinner with some mashed cauliflower or roasted turnips.

Meatloaf has always been one of our family’s favorite meals. It is classic comfort food that is budget friendly with fond memories attached to the dinner table.
Being able to convert this recipe into an air fryer recipe that fits within my Trim Healthy Mama Journey has been wonderful. Not only can we enjoy a family favorite but I can be assured that it is not filled with sugar and other ingredients that are not on plan.
The Best Ingredients To Use When Making Man Pleasing Meatloaf
I do use homemade ketchup when I am making this however you have a couple of options here by using either a store bought no sugar added ketchup or the recipe for catsup in the Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook.
I love THM Baking Blend as a binder in this recipe. However I have also used this Mama’s Bake & Fry Mix when I am running low.
Adding Extra Vegetables
You can add extra vegetables to this meatloaf to help pack it with even more goodness.
Some of my suggestions are:
- 1/2 cup of finely shredded carrots
- 1/2 cup of finely shredded zucchini
- 1/2 cup of chopped mushrooms
Do you have a favorite vegetable that you like to add to your meatloaf?
About The Air Fryers I Use
I got my first air fryer a few years ago, it is a NuWave Brio 3qt which served us well for over a year. Then last year Rick bought me a Power Air Fryer Oven 6qt that has held a place on my counter ever since.
There are some differences in how you cook with a drawer style air fryer verses how you cook in an oven style air fryer. The most important being how the grease is collected.
The Difference Collecting The Grease
In my drawer style I add about 1/4 inch of water to the drawer before placing my basket into it. This helps to stop my air fryer from smoking and the grease from burning in the bottom as this man pleasing meatloaf cooks.
In my oven style air fryer I don’t have a place to put any water under the meatloaf so I have to improvise a bit to avoid smoking. Typically I add one of the trays that is deeper covered in foil or you can just place a small ovenproof dish with some water added as a drip tray.
Using A Pan vs the Racks To Cook Man Pleasing Meatloaf
Using a pan to cook your man pleasing meatloaf will work but then the extra fats and grease do not drain off and it can be a little mushy.
By utilizing your rack or basket the meatloaf gets a beautiful crispy texture that is similar to a classic meatloaf.
