One of the first things I tried with my new Power Air Fryer Oven was this Air Fryer Rotisserie Chicken. OH MY!! Mama am I stoked about this one.
I can buy a roaster on sale (you know stock up when they are like 88 cents a pound!!) and save a TON of money.

Why Air Fryer Rotisserie Chicken Is Great
One of the best parts of being able to make my own rotisserie chicken at home is that I can season it with this Rotisserie Seasoning Blend meaning that it is free of added fillers and added sugar.
When I make two we have an on plan protein source all week while following a Trim Healthy Lifestyle. AND we can make healthy healing bone broth in my Instant Pot so that we have it on hand as well.
Funny Story about my “green chicken”
I was so excited to get started with testing my Rotisserie Seasoning Blend, but was stranded at home with no car (we have been having issues like that lately) and the only kitchen twine I had was some from Christmas that was green.
So even though I knew in my heart that it would bleed into the chicken, I went ahead and trussed up my chicken put it on the rotisserie spit, seasoned it and set that baby to cook.
Lesson learned! Don’t Do it!! Get the right kind of kitchen twine.
Success Tips For Air Fryer Rotisserie Chicken
- Get the correct type of kitchen twine.
- Read the instructions in the manual that came with your Air Fryer for the correct cooking temperature and time needed. Mine recommended 380 for 50 minutes, it needed an extra 5 minutes to be cooked to 165 degrees. Different fryers use different wattage’s of electricity which affects your cooking times.
- Truss your chicken so that it will spin freely in your fryer if you have a spit like mine.
- Don’t open the drawer/door so that your fryer doesn’t loose heat.
- If you are using a drawer style Air fryer – start your chicken breast side down, so that when you flip it to finish cooking it is breast side up.
- Let your chicken rest for about 10 minutes after the cooking cycle so that the juices can settle back into the meat.
- Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer to ensure that it is cooked thoroughly.
How I Use Air Fryer Rotisserie Chicken
The first day we normally pair this with some creamy coleslaw (THM Cookbook pg 230 ) and some roasted non starchy vegetables for an S meal.
Or you can remove the skin from the breast meat and enjoy that with a side of brown rice or quinoa, veggies and a salad for a wonderful E meal.
How I Store The Leftovers
I then strip the meat from the bones and separate it 1 baggie dark meat and 1 baggie white meat. Which means I then have precooked protein for on plan meals for a day or two.
You could also portion it into individual servings, but yeah I am normally in too much of a hurry for that.
Easy Bone Broth
If I make two chickens back to back I normally throw all the bones in my Instant Pot Duo, cover with water add a splash of Apple Cider vinegar and put it on High Pressure for 120 minutes.
I allow my bone broth to finish processing and just leave it on keep warm for at least 12 hours. I strain it and allow it to gel in the fridge and skim the fat off.
You can also do this with just one chicken in a Instant Pot Duo Mini.
