New Year, New You: Goals vs Resolutions

Why I am setting goals vs resolutions in 2018. We approach each year setting resolutions, thinking that “this year will be different…”Only to find that we may not always succeed at said resolutions. It got me to thinking about 2018 and what do I want to accomplish this year? 

Let’s look at ways to succeed together in setting actionable and attainable goals this year and resolve to work on those.

What Is A Resolution?

According to Dictionary.com a resolution is

  • the act of resolving or determining upon an action, course of action,method, procedure, etc.
  • a resolve; a decision or determination: to make a firm resolution to do something

What Is A Goal?

And a Goal is:

  • the result or achievement toward which effort is directed

What Does This Have To Do With My Trim Healthy Mama Journey?

We have all set a #Resolution to follow a Trim Healthy Mama Lifestyle.

What are the #GOALS that you have set for yourself to make that resolution a reality?

All to often we can find ourselves asking…

Why is this so “hard”?

One of the best things I have learned over the last few years is that THM is as hard as I make it. I have to choose my own level of “hard” as do you.

I make choices daily:

  • To eat on plan or not?

  • Am I going to use special ingredients or not?

  • Finding the joy in managing my health both psychically and mentally (attitude and perspective are everything).

  • To Read my plan book and participate in the New Year,New You: A Trim Healthy Mama Book Study

Goal #1– Have a Positive Attitude & Choose My Hard Daily

Goal#2– Mindfully Read My Trim Healthy Mama Plan Book

What Am I Doing Wrong?

Often times we think we are “doing it wrong” when in actuality we are doing it right and just need to tweak a little bit of this or a little bit of that. (That is the beauty of THM, it is uniquely personal to each of us)

Reading your Trim Healthy Mama Plan Book or going back into your notes can many times be the key to this question.

  • Am I building my meals correctly?

  • Is my timing off?

  • Am I fuel stacking?

  • Do I need to be mindful of dairy, frankenfoods etc?

Goal#3– Mindfully Follow the Plan as it is Designed

Why Is She Having Better Results Than I Am?

Personally, I struggle with this often. But have to remind myself that “Comparison is the Thief of Joy”. And again look at how I am working the plan.

Asking Myself:

  • Am I following the plan as well as I should be?

  • Do I have health issues or habits that hinder my own progress?

  • Am I exercising like I should be?

  • Is stress creeping in where it doesn’t belong?

Goal#4– Love Myself Enough to Accept Who & Where I Am

What are your Goals for 2018?

We are all a “work in progress” leaning into faith that God will Strengthen us Daily as well as that We have each been Wonderfully Made and ARE Dearly Loved…
