If you are anything like me you crave cereal at times. There is something comforting in a bowl of cereal topped with some almond milk and berries. These cereal recipes are very popular within the Trim Healthy Mama Community.
Having a quick and easy breakfast is such a key thing for so many of us. Being able to mindlessly dump some cereal in a bowl, add some unsweetened almond milk and a few cut up berries (or not) just makes sense some mornings.

Cereal has always been my go to when life gets busy. My mom wasn’t really a morning person so she always had a couple boxes for us to pick from. As I got older cereal became a topping for my yogurt or ice cream to add a little dimension and my kids would eat it up.
When I began my Trim Healthy Journey I really missed my cold cereal, because it makes for a quick snack, breakfast or any meal. Rick is a huge cereal guy in that when he’s hungry and just doesn’t know what to grab — Cereal is his choice.
Over the past 4 years I have made a bunch of different cereals that fit within the Trim Healthy Mama Plan guidelines, most of them being a light S to almost Fuel Pull and a couple of E choices. These cereals are crazy good in my opinion, and from the feedback of those that have tried them.
Store-Bought Cold Cereal & Trim Healthy Mama
Cold cereal is one of the hardest things to find when following the Trim Healthy Mama Plan. Your store-bought options are minimal. You have oats, Ezekiel brand cereal and power O’s. and quite honestly none of them are very appealing to our family. These options can also be extremely hard to find at local grocers with the exception of old fashioned rolled oats.
Oats
Homemade muesli like my Mixed Berry Muesli are wonderful for mixing into your yogurt or soaked in unsweetened almond milk the night before so breakfast is ready to go when you are.
I also use my Instant Pot Duo60 to make both steel cut and old fashioned oats in batches so that I can portion them out and they are ready to go.
Check out how I make Pressure Cooker Oatmeal.
In cooler months we enjoy this Pumpkin Porridge.
Quinoa & Others
If you can not tolerate grains first thing in the morning you can use quinoa to get a dose of healthy carbs from this Cherry Berry Quinoa. I have actually started using sprouted quinoa to make this and love it.
Sweetened Cereal Recipes
My grandchildren really like sweetened cereals for snacks and my husband tends to reach for them when he is feeling stressed, so I had to find a way to replace them in our home.
These Cereals, Crumbles and Crisps are not quite as crunchy as store-bought but they do hold up well in milk and are some of the most popular recipes on my blog.
