I started making doing freezer prep sessions when my boys were young. I was a working single mom with kids that played sports, were active in scouting and we were just plain BUSY. Having things like pre seasoned ground beef, chopped vegetables pre cooked rice and of course freezer meals were a must.
Since my boys have grown and moved out, I find that having these things ready to go in the freezer helps keep me on plan in my Trim Healthy Mama journey. They save me time on busy nights when we have family activities with the grand kids or when I feel “stuck” about what to fix for dinner.

How to Package Your Freezer Staples
Packaging your freezer staples correctly is one of the most important parts of meal prepping and stocking your freezer.
I use a lot of zipper style freezer bags because they are inexpensive and I can freeze things flat which makes stacking and storing much simpler. These freezer baggie holders are great when you need an extra set of hands.
I freeze my bags flat if at all possible because they stack better that way.
A little trick I learned to get the air out of the bags is to dip them in water with the corner still open. this forces the air out of the bag but watch so that water doesn’t get into your bag before sealing it all the way.
I also freeze broth, coffee, tea, herbs, blended okra/nopal and so much more into pods with silicone muffin pans and ice-cube trays.I then have pre measured ingredients on hand for shakes, smoothies, skillet meals, hangry pockets and more.
How Stocking Your Freezer Helps Relieve Stress
Having meal components stocked in your freezer enables you to throw together easy meals in minutes. It cuts down on your prep time during busy seasons and makes staying on plan easy peasy.
Grab a friend or two and have a fantastic freezer prep session and some fun together. Try new things and focus on healthy and wholesome meals. Laughter is one of the best medicines there is, I’ve never had a prep session with others that didn’t include it.(wink) Find Joy in Your Journey!

great post!! I so agree that having bits and pieces of a meal already makes meal making fast and easy. Being single I make up my mirepoix ahead and freeze them, it helps to keep me from having to throw out the ends of the onions, celery and such because I can’t eat them fast enough. I also try to wait until they are on sale and purchase them and have a chopping fest to prep and freeze.
